Step 1: Review Information
|
|
Step 1 involves reviewing the information available to you about Cascadia Montessori School.
A brochure is available that elaborates on information outlined in this website.
To obtain a brochure, please call Mrs. Franklin at 425-881-2885 after
school hours or send an email (click on the envelop icon
below) and request a brochure.
If you have questions about Cascadia that can be discussed over the telephone
or by email, please contact Mrs. Franklin as described above.
|
Step 2: Visit by Parent(s)
|
|
Your next step should be to visit the school. On your visit you will see our campus, the classrooms and educational materials. Qualities that set Cascadia apart should begin to become apparent. You will be able to see samples of student work and other information. All visits should be arranged in advance.
|
Step 3: Application by Parent(s)
|
|
At this point, you need to decide if Cascadia provides the type of social,
personal, and learning environment and the educational emphasis you value for
your child. Your decision at this point is whether or not to apply to
Cascadia. Subsequent steps develop additional information for the
enrollment decision.
To apply to Cascadia we ask that you complete and return the Application for Enrollment, and
complete and distribute the Records/Information Release form. These
forms are available at the school. Please note that we encourage and generally require you to visit our school and
observe prior to accepting an application.
|
Step 4: Evaluation by the School
|
|
In this step, we will contact your child’s previous teacher(s) and may contact others listed on the Application for Admission who have relevant information about your child. We will review any additional information you provide (although additional information is not usually necessary).
This step also involves a visit by your child to the
school during non-class times, usually on weekends. During this time, your
child will work with Mrs. Franklin, doing their own grade-level work. We
observe maturity, focus, cooperation, and effort. Work done during the
visit gives us insight into the child's development in the basic academic areas
of arithmetic, reading, and writing. This step comprises our “testing” of potential students. We want your child’s visit to be seen as a positive experience, and we assure you that we handle these matters with sensitivity toward the children who visit.
|
|
|
In this step, we notify you regarding acceptance. We either invite you to enroll your child at Cascadia or inform you that we think our school would not be a good situation for your child.
At this point, you need to decide whether or nor not to enroll. Enrollment consists of completing an Enrollment Agreement, which is a binding contract for the school year, and paying
the Enrollment Payment.
Enrollment also includes completing four additional forms:
Family Data Sheet - provides contacts for
emergencies and other basic information.
Certificate of Immunization Status - a
state form required of all students; students must be up-to-date on required
immunizations.
Field Trip Permission Form - required for
off-campus field trips.
Safety Guidelines
for Volunteer Drivers.
