Parents of Cascadia students become involved in their children’s school activities in
several ways. The interrelationship among teachers, parents, and
students makes our program particularly valuable. Sharing information
between teachers and parents helps provide consistent and
appropriate guidance for the benefit of each child. Marilyn and
the other teachers are in contact with parents throughout the year.

Formal parent conferences are scheduled twice a year where detailed progress
reports are presented and discussed. Sufficient time is available for meaningful
discussions at parent conferences.

A key role of parents involves student homework. Homework is a supplement that
assigned almost daily. It is important that parents help the students realize
that homework is important to them. Parents should provide help as needed,
sharing in their children's work and lives.
Parents are asked to participate in several activities during the year. For field trips,
parents are needed to help transport the children and act as small
group chaperones (we think the parents may enjoy the field trips as
much as the children). Transportation and assistance is also
needed for the off-campus activities.

The school has two special functions each year: the Halloween party and graduation at the end of the year.
Parents are asked to help organize, provide snacks and deserts
for these functions, and work on the Halloween party activities.

At various times, some parents have shared special talents
with groups of children, generally using the studio building.
