Overview

Campus
If you literally flew over the school you would see that Cascadia is located in a quiet residential area, though not far from main residential arterials. The site consists of two acres ending with a buffer of natural vegetation and trees, providing a park-like setting. There is a playfield, a hard-surface play court, climbing structures, swings, and informal play areas.
Main Building
The school building has been designed and built to provide an environment conducive to learning. The interiors are bright and clean with tall ceilings and a spacious feeling. The overall quality of the site allows the classrooms to have abundant windows for natural light. Air conditioning is provided to maintain comfortable temperatures during warm weather days.
Studio Facility

A small structure, which was on the property when it was purchased, has gradually been improved and now serves as a studio for art projects and other special educational activities.

Approved, Focused Program

Cascadia is a well-established, state-approved, private school providing education for students in kindergarten through grade five. We have three classrooms of combined grades. Our small size is important to us. It allows us to attend to our students without distractions and disruptions that can be found in larger settings. We use the “hands-on” Montessori materials in initial grades and then transition to emphasize carefully selected, quality textbooks in the higher grades. Our computers are inter-connected by a local area network and have access to the internet.

Academics Plus
Our emphasis is on key academic subjects. In addition we provide French lessons, swimming lessons at the Eastside YMCA, and we utilize outside resources to provide additional activities such as physical education sessions, music studios, and art lessons. Specific activities vary from year-to-year. We also have field trips, visits to public libraries, a Halloween party, and graduation ceremonies each year.
A Solid Foundation

After their tenure at Cascadia (completing at least grade four with us), students typically have the knowledge, skills and confidence to be successful in their next educational steps -- in private schools (such as The Overlake School, Lakeside School or Forest Ridge) or in the area’s public schools -- and to be successful in the rest of their lives!
